Textures

Textures
Textures vary considerably and can determine the drape, durability, appearance and general choice of your curtains and upholstery.

Jacquard
A fabric with an elaborately woven pattern produced on a jacquard loom. The loom constructs elaborate designs in an intricate weave from a variety of basic weaves.A reversible fabric, which can be made from linen/cotton/wool/man made fibres, it is woven with elaborate designs and traditional patterns.

Chenille
A fabric made with a fringed thread used as the weft in combination with wool or cotton to achieve a deep pile texture.

Taffeta
A medium-weight or lightweight fabric of acetate, nylon, rayon, or silk, usually smooth, crisp, and lustrous, plain wooven, and with a fine crosswise rib effect.

Silk
A natural protein fibre, some forms of which can be woven into textiles. We sell a large variety of silks in store, our best seller is the Dupion silk which has a small slub line in the weave. Silk curtains do require a little special attention compared to other fabrics as they are quite susceptible to the effects of the sun. We always recommend using a protective interlining with silk curtains and this also gives you a really sumptuous finished look.
