Valance

Curtain valance come in many shapes headings and finishings, suitable headings include, standard pencil pleat, pinch pleat, goblet pleat, ruche or box pleat.

Most valances lend themselves to fringe or a contrast edge, which then defines the finished drop, straight or shaped.

Swags and tails are also classed as a valance finish even though they are more ornate; they serve the same purpose and frame your window treatment.
Flat pelmets work on the same principal, construction and fitting is slightly different to a gathered valance. Using a pelmet stiffener such as vilene on a wooden shelf and attached with velcro.
