Delivery Charges / Terms & Conditions

*PLEASE NOTE*
WE WILL BE CLOSED FROM 20TH DECEMBER UNTIL 4TH JAN 2012, SO ANY ORDERS PLACED DURING THAT TIME WILL BE PROCESSED ON OUR RETURN.
FABRIC WORLD WOULD LIKE TO WISH ALL OUR CUSTOMERS A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR AND THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT DURING 2011.

A £4.99 delivery charge is applied to all orders under £100; orders of £100 or more are delivered for free.

Products dispatched from Fabric World or direct from the supplier are typically sent by courier; you should allow up to 28 days for deliveries depending on stock availability dates which we would advise you on, but generally our deliveries are normally with you in about 7-10 days. If we are advised by the fabric companies that there will be a delay in dispatching your order, we will advise you as soon as possible. If you are working to a deadline, please let us know when placing your order. Some fabric companies hold their main stock outside of the UK, which means some orders, may take slightly longer than this. Orders placed on a Friday or over the weekend will not be processed until the following Monday. Your credit / debit card is charged prior to dispatch.

If the package is damaged on receipt in any way please state “PACKAGE DAMAGED” on the delivery note & refuse the parcel. Once we have been notified, a replacement can then be arranged. If you have signed to accept goods, you are agreeing with the courier that there is no visible damage and therefore we cannot consider a replacement.

Return Policy

Goods other than made to measure products & cut length fabrics should be returned to us at our registered address at your expense within 14 days of receipt and must be undamaged, unused and in the same condition as when received by you. Until such time as they are received into our possession, you are responsible for any loss or damage to those goods. So recorded delivery would be strongly advised. Poles and Wallpaper returns must not have been opened in anyway and will incur a 20% handling fee as imposed by the manufacturers, in addition to your own cost of the return postage.

Unfortunately we cannot refund products without the original packaging or products that have been trimmed or adjusted in any way, originally by us to your specification or by you after taking receipt of the order. This includes cut length fabrics and made to measure products. If you do send your items back to us and it does not meet our terms, then you would have to collect or pay for delivery for the items to be sent back to you.

Goods sent to our customers are rigorously quality checked at source before dispatch. If however your goods faulty, we will gladly provide you with a replacement or refund once the items have been checked, and confirmed as an original manufacturers’ fault. Please advise which action you would like us to take. Once we have received the returned goods, we will refund the purchase price within 30 days if this is the option you require. Our original carriage charges incurred when sending out the parcel are not refundable. Fabric World accepts no liability for any costs incurred for the return of these goods, unless in the opinion of Fabric World the goods are deemed faulty.

Fabric Awareness

The photographic images used on the website cannot be a true indication of colour. Please be aware that fabric shades can sometimes vary slightly between samples and batches. We can not be held responsible for any decorating / interior purchases made or paint mixed etc that has been matched to a sample swatch. If you are asking us to send your fabric to a third party, such as a curtain maker or upholsterer, please provide them with a picture or reference of your chosen fabric, so that they can verify your fabric upon receipt.

Stock

We aim to supply at least 75% of the website content from stock. Confirmation of an order will be emailed and any out of stock items will be advised upon. All goods are subject to availability, and full refunds will be given if for any reason your order cannot be fulfilled by Fabric World within a reasonable time. We cannot be responsible for delays beyond our control.

Our minimum order quantity is one metre for fabrics and one roll for wallpapers, unless a higher amount is imposed by a particular manufacturer.

Cancellations

As we aim to pick and pack your order immediately upon receipt we are unable to accept cancellations on cut fabric. Packaged goods may be cancelled as long as they have not been dispatched from the manufacturer.

Fire Retardant

Fabrics to be used for upholstery need to comply with the Furniture and Furnishing Fire Safety regulations which came into force in 1988. If they do not meet regulations, your Upholsterer may be able to use an Interliner or we can arrange for certain fabrics to be back coated - please contact us for further information.

Ownership and Risk

All goods remain the property of Fabric World until paid for in full.
The goods shall be delivered to your nominated address and remain at our risk until such delivery.
Once delivered it is the customers' responsibility to either be present to accept the delivery or to provide a suitable, dry and safe place to deliver goods.

The customer is responsible for their own calculations given the information provided. We cannot accept responsibility for inaccurate calculations.

Any technical information we supply on the website regarding fabric specifications e.g. weights and pattern repeats have been taken directly from the manufactures details and are supplied as a guide only.

The customer is responsible for their own choices of fabric in terms of colour, style and suitability for seating etc. Please take time to consider your requirements.

Fabric care and advice

Shrinkage – It is usual for fabrics to have up to 5% residual shrinkage, please allow for this when sewing hems and linings. However we do not recommend washing curtains especially with fixed linings.
When a fabric is produced the manufacturer will add what is known as “dress” into the basic construction. This is added to ensure the fabric drapes properly. Once washed the “dress” in the fabric is removed and the fabric or curtains will never be quite the same weight or appearance as when it was originally made. Atmospheric shrinkage also occurs between seasons, depending on changing temperatures and humidity in certain rooms and environments in the home. This is not a fault of the fabric.

Colour fastness – all fabrics will eventually fade, we recommend all curtains are lined to reduce the effects of direct sunlight. We also strongly advise that all silks are lined in sateen with a barrier interliner. Each home is different and we rely on our individual customers to know the strength of the sun on their windows and act accordingly. The leading edges of your curtains are the most susceptible.

No claim will be accepted for changes in appearance or texture of a fabric after it has been treated, either by spraying, or processing of any kind including flame proofing.

All pattern repeats are approximate.

Embroidered fabrics – Please note that embroidered fabrics have a usable width and the embroidery does not run the full width of the piece.
If it states a width of 54” /137cms it may be useful to base you calculations on a 48”/122cm for guaranteed fullness. Please account for this when ordering or call us for further advice on particular designs.

Wallpaper

Please check that you have received the correct designs and that the rolls are from the same batch before you open the packaging.
All rolls must be checked for shade and faults before hanging, do not assume that the wallpaper will come off the roll the correct way up, if unsure check with the pattern book image or contact us.
No claim for hanging costs will be accepted once the paper has been hung.

Preparation:
Take extra care when preparing around electrical light switches and power points. Do not allow any excess moisture to drip onto electrical contacts.

Walls should be clean, firm and dry. Roughen any painted surfaces with glass/sandpaper. Remove any old wall coverings and fill any holes and cracks. Size any absorbent surfaces. Do not hang wallpaper on a wall with a history of damp.
If the wallpaper is an all-over dark colour the ends of the rolls should be coloured with a matching crayon or marker to avoid white edges showing.
Lining paper should be hung horizontally and allowed to dry completely.
To avoid shrink back we recommend that the paper should be allowed to dry naturally. It is also recommended that any central heating be turned off until the natural process of drying had occurred.
Please ensure that the same adhesive is used to hang both the lining paper and the wallpaper.
For optimum results please use a high quality pre-mixed adhesive and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Allow to soak until pliable, approx 4-5 minutes, making sure the edges are well pasted. Do not over soak and do not paste more than one length at a time. Do not overlap, use butt joints.
Carefully wipe off excess paste immediately with a damp sponge. Failure to do so will result in serious damage to the surface.
